In Multiply, you can connect different templates to tailor your workflow specifically to your needs, building on each step as you go. This is done by adding 'List blocks' to your templates.

When you connect two templates, you help the AI understand how your templates fit together. Each time you add to your text using a connected template, the AI considers what you've already created in other linked templates.

How to Link Templates

Let’s imagine you want to write a story with new characters each time. What you can do is link a character template to your story template, ensuring you always have the right characters for each story.

  1. Setting Up Your Templates

Start by creating two templates: one named 'Stories' and another named 'Characters'. Populate each template with necessary data. In this case, make sure the 'Characters' template has some initial data or generated content before moving onto the next step.

  2. Linking Your Templates

After your templates are ready, connect them. Go to 'Edit Template' and press 'Add block,' choose the template names from a list, and link them.

  3. Connecting Specific Templates for One Use
Once your templates are ready and you have some content in the 'Characters' template, you can combine them easily. Click '+ New' to start a new ‘Stories’ instance. Then, access your list block, click '+ Add Characters,' and choose the characters you want for the new story.

Alternatively, you can use the AI Suggestion button to generate stories based on your own prompt.

Although this example uses only two templates, you can connect as many as needed. Whether it’s parts of a report linking to the main report template or other combinations, the choice of connections is yours. This method allows for flexible, sophisticated, and customised workspaces.

AI Suggestions

When you link two templates with a list block, each template shows two blocks with an 'AI Suggestion' button. This button allows you to get suggestions for new instances related to the linked template. You can change the prompt to guide the AI on what to suggest.

This is handy for starting new projects like social media campaigns based on established research, or stories based on characters.

Choosing Between Dynamic or Linear

Think about how you connect your templates. You might arrange them in a straight line, where each template follows another. Alternatively, you can create a loop by linking one template to another, which then links back to the first.

This method is ideal if you, for example, have a template for cooking recipes and another for creating new recipe ideas. The AI can suggest new recipe ideas based on your existing recipes. Then, you can link these ideas back to the original recipe template and flesh them out there.

There are various ways to link templates. Try different methods to see what works best for you!
